"New root password invalid” when changing password

If you receive the message New root password invalid when trying to change your root password via our VPS Panel or via our client area, it’s likely that you’re attempting to use a special character (e.g. ” @ ! /). At this time, your root password may only contain numbers (1-9) and letters (A-Z). Lower and upper case are accepted. This is a restriction in our control panel software (SolusVM).

Please attempt to use a password with just numbers and letters (e.g. mypassword123) and you should have no problems.

If you require special characters in your password, you will need to use the passwd command from an SSH/Shell session to set your password manually.
